LAHORE: Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, the director general (DG) of the Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR), termed the Pakistan Army as a best example of ‘
national integration’.
He said, “There is no space for any kind of bias on the basis of religion, ethnicity or s
ect in the army”.
He was responding to a question regarding Captain (retd) Safdar’s demand of banning Ahmadis to be recruited in the army, during a television interview on Thursday night.
“Every Muslim officer recruited in the army has to submit a certificate to declare that
he is not an Ahmadi and believes in Khatm-i-Nubuwwat,” he explai
ned.
DG ISPR further said, “Let me tell you that the Pakistan Army is a
national army… It’s not true that army can be jo
ined only by Muslims because we are a Muslim country.”
Moreover, he said, “When we put on the uniform we are a Pakistani soldier only, irrespective of our religion, province or clan.”
